Ashta means eight and Kutas means points. There are eight categories from
which to judge the energy flow within a relationship from a maximum total of 36
points. Anything over 20 is considered good and horoscope matching is recommended.
Between 16 and 20 is considered OK, and the couple can make it if they do not
have any major blemishes, have Stri Dirgha, and sincerely love each other.
Below 16 is considered very low and the price to be paid for staying in the
relationship will be more than it is worth. A description of each category
follows. The more points awarded a category, the more important it is. If the
points are very low in a category that is worth a lot of points, the couple will
have an enhanced awareness of this problem within their relationship.
